What a wonderful experience we had while visiting Kauai. Kyren is the little boy who drowned in the pool while we were there. I had the oppurtunity to assist with CPR and reviving him. He was actually dead when we pulled him out of the water. It was such a scary experience and so humbling. Kyren is our little Angel boy. The Lord wants him here on this Earth. He must have wonderful things in store for him. Chris and Anne are his parents. They are amazing people. Carey and I are so thankful we met new life time friends there. I am Kyren's Aunty Kimmie :)

We had so much fun golfing. We golfed about every other day while we were there. The public course is right on the beach and cost less than $60 for the both of us. We were in heaven!

St George is so fun to get away for quick golfing trips. This past weekend we went down with some friends -Tracy and Amy Smith. The weather was amazing. 70 degrees and clear blue skies. I was able to get a little sun tan while we were golfing.

We golfed at Sand Hollow both days.

We needed to get away from the cold and get some Vitamin D- oh and vitamin G (golf).

We had so much fun in St. George the weekend before for my birthday that we decided to go down again for Careys big day. The boys didn't know we were going so when we woke them up at 5 am there was some moans and groans until they heard we were heading to green grass and a swimming pool.

They swimming pool was heated to 92 degrees. The boys were in Heaven!

For my birthday, Carey took me to St George where we golfed at Sunbrook and the Ledges. The weather was only about 50 degrees but it was so great to be 20 degrees warmer. It felt like it was Spring.

The view from the Ledges is amazing. Snow canyon is so beautiful.

We had so much fun goofing off and enjoying each others company. No kids, no work, NO STRESS!!!!!!

I think I'm looking for a lost ball..... :)

Brody has an abcessed tooth...

It never ends with Brody's teeth. At the end of December Brody became very sick and was almost hospitalized for an abcessed tooth. Luckily we were able to treat him at home. Four trips to the dentist, 5 teeth pulled and 3 root canals later throughout the month of January and we finally think we have all of his problems resolved. Well for now...

The abcessed tooth had spread into his sinus's and eye. We could hardly recognize him. These pictures are actually him on the mend.

Brody's Birthday- 8 years old!!!

For Brody's birthday we had a party at classic skating. Lots of friends and family showed up for the big adventure. Here is a picture of Nate, Lynette and Estella.

These days at the skating rink you can also use scooters. Here is Carey trying to be 8 again... :)

Me and Seeli- notice we aren't skating. I tried and made it around the circle once. I forgot how hard it is to skate. I can't believe at one point in my life a was a skating regular at classic.

Every year my mom has all the grandkids over and they get to make gingerbread houses. Each child has their own house with tons of candy. They get to decorate their houses any way they want to and if there is left over candy they get to take it home (thanks a lot nana... cavities anyone?)

Getting ready for Christmas...

Last night we went out looking for our Christmas tree. We spent quite awhile looking for the perfect tree. Carey instructed the boys that the right tree would speak to us and let us know it should come home with us. The boys decided this was the tree that "spoke" to them. It was pretty cold but lots of fun.

Braxton put up the angel on the tree this year.

It took a lot of serious concentration to get the angel perfect.

My three helpers... It's so nice to have the tree, decorations and lights up and it's really starting to feel like Christmas. Now we just need SNOW!We hope all of our family and friends are healthy and happy. Have a great holiday season!

Thanksgiving...

This Thanksgiving we did something totally different. Braxton and Brody went with their dad for the holiday, so Carey and I took off for a long weekend. We stayed in Las Vegas in the MGM signature towers. They were amazing! For Thanksgiving dinner we went to Shibuya's and had sushi. It was so fun to do something different. It was such a relaxing weekend. On the way home we golfed at Sand Hollow in St. George. The course was amazing. It was so beautiful and was the perfect way to end a weekend of fun.

Carey and I were able to take a quick weekend get away with our friends Tracy and Amy Smith. We went to Scottsdale Arizona. We golfed on Saturday morning, went to the Suns game that night and then on Sunday we went to the Transiberrian Orchestra. We had a blast. It was so nice to be in 85 degree weather for the weekend.

We sat on the seventh row and it was amazing!

Braxton and Brody dressed up 3 different times for Halloween. For the Branch party they were both grim reapers. For their school parties Brody was a skeleton and Braxton taped dum dum (suckers) to his shirt and smarties (yes the candy) to his pants and was a "Dum Dum Smartie Pants" (very clever:) )!!!

On Halloween night Ryley came over and Carey took the three boys out trick or treating. They had a blast. Ryley was adorable when he would go to the houses and say trick or treat.

This is what the boys looked like for the Branch party. The boys ran around and scared all the litte princesses and fairies. Boys will be boys...

BRAXTON TURNS 11 !!!!!!!!

Braxton turned 11 on Oct. 27th. For his b-day party he chose to go to the Utah Space Center in Pleasant Grove.

The boys had to make sure they didn't upset the Romulins or war could break out and Earth could be destroyed.
They were excellent astronauts! They had detailed instructions before entering the simulator.

The boys were able to ride the USS PHOENIX simulator and go on a mission and study a supernova.

Here's some information about their trip and what each passenger was resposible for. Not only was it fun, but the boys were able to learn about Space also.

USS PHOENIX: The Phoenix was designed in 2359 to have the power of a warship while having the expandability of a science ship or diplomatic vessel. It is equipped with many unique weapons and equipment, like the pulsating phasers. It is also one of two ships in the Federation to be equipped with a working cloaking device.
The Phoenix is currently on assignment in sector 74, assisting with border patrols.
Captain: BRAXTON-The Captain is responsible for the ship, the safety of the crew, and completing the mission. The captain should be a leader, able to think quickly and make decisions, able to give orders, and have a loud, clear voice.
First Officer: BRYCE
The First Officer is second in command, and assists the Captain in anything he/she might need. The First Officer is also in charge of the sensors and cloaking device systems.
Tactical: ALEX
The Tactical officer is in charge of the defence of the ship. They are in charge of the weapons and shields as well as security teams and internal sensors.
Engineer: ZACH
Should any systems on the ship become broken, the Engineer would be the one to fix them. The Engineer also controls the main reactor and distributes power.
Helm: OAKLEY
The Helm officer controls the engines on the ship. They are in charge of the warp engines, the impulse engines, and thrusters, and controls the ships destination.
Operations: BRODY
The Operations officer is in charge of the communications systems. They also control the transporters and tractor beam.

The trip was a success and the boys returned back to Earth safely...

GOURMET MEALS...Watch out Betty Crocker

Are you wondering what this is?????? This is Carey's favorite Saturday lunch he makes with the boys. They like to call it "The Spread". Here's the recipe if you're interested in making it... Lets see... I think he puts in some hot dogs, ramen noodles (spicy vegetable is the best), chili, salsa, chili peppers, green tobasco, nacho cheese, regular cheese and Fritos. Every time he makes this gourmet meal it's gone in minutes. I'm a little higher maintenance and require peanut butter and jelly on the days the boys eat this.

Emily has been playing volleyball for the highschool team in Mass. where they recently moved. She has already proven herself as a go-getter and amazing athelete in her new school and here are 2 articles from the local paper. Carey definately has a proud daddy smile on his face!!!!

Back to school

School started August 18th this year. It seemed like summer just flew by. The boys had lots of fun though in such a short amount of time. Lots of swimming, playing, sleep overs, family and friend parties, a few great vacations and a total blast just hanging out together. We've decided that Braxton and Brody should have been twins. They are inseperable. They can entertain each other for hours. They are amazing friends and awesome brothers.

Floating the river

We took one of the afternoons and floated the river. It took about 3 hours to float. Well actually we had to get out quite a bit and push ourselves down the river. It was very shallow in parts and the current was so slow. It took FOREVER to finish.
We had a good time but won't be floating that river again. It was way to slow and not action packed enough for us adventureous folks :) It was a once in a lifetime experience.
Brody was so tired after our day of fun that he crashed out on the couch. Nighty night sweet boy!

ANIMALS WE SAW IN YELLOWSTONE AND ISLAND PARK...

Now its really hard to see but there is a dark spot in the valley which turned out to be a bear. We couldn't see it without binoculars (a nice lady let us use hers) It was sure fun for the kids to see a bear in the park. That doesn't happen very often.
There is a bald eagle preservation in Yellowstone. The eagle's nest were so big and it was amazing to watch them fly over us.

The bison are not afraid to take over the roads and cross them at their own sweet time. They are so ginormous and scary!
Just lounging around, unaware of all the people that stop and stare at him.
We were also very lucky to see a wolf in the wild.

This elk was about 15 feet away from us. There was a park ranger keeping people at a distance. Carey asked the park ranger if he could go feed the elk a carrot. The park ranger didn't think that was too funny. He really takes his job seriously!

YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK

We took one of the days and drove around Yellowstone Park. Here is a picture of Old Faithful.
Carey, Braxton and Brody patiently waited in the hot sun for Old Faithful to explode. This was the first time for the three of them to experience Yellowstone.

Our first night we arrived at Island Park we went looking for wildlife. We had so much fun taking the back roads and trying to spot animals. We saw a couple moose (or mooses as Olivia called them).
Grandma Roz rode in the back with da boys. Now she is one brave grandma!
John is a great tour guide when it comes to looking for wildlife!
Brody had to take a little break in the wild... This is how real men take care of business :)
It was so beautiful in the mountains. We had such a great time that night.

MEET OUR NEW PUPPY... HARLEY

We were all so sad after Tatelee passed away. We were so used to her greeting us when we got home ,waking the boys up in the morning, and going on lots of family walks together. Carey knew how sad all of us were and decided to surprise with a new puppy. He is a black miniature schnuazer and we decided to name him Harley. He is so adorable.
Harley has been so much fun...and work. We forgot how hard puppies really are. Lots of trips outside in the middle of the night, close observation at all times or oops there's some poop on the floor. Everyone has really tried hard at keeping a close eye on him and for the most part Harley is doing pretty dang good.
Harley loves to climb into Brodys stuffed animals. Can you see which animal is real?
The boys love snuggling with Harley and trying to teach him new tricks. Brax even climbed in the bath tub with Harley and tried to teach him to swim. It was pretty funny.

Our little 4 legged seagull, prom queen and sweet sweet dog was tragically taken from us on June 16th 2008. She will surely be missed. Tatelee had been in our family for 5 years and was so adored. She was so spoiled and loved. Tatelee loved to kiss the boys in the morning and try and help me get them out of bed. Tatelee loved taking walks with Carey, me and the boys. We always had so much fun and found our walks to be great bonding times for us. Tatelee loved pretending like she was the toughest dog on the block even though she was so small. Tatelee had 6 puppies in 2005 and she was such a good mommy. We loved having the puppies around and when it was time for them to go we found homes with people we knew. All of her puppies have turned out wonderful. She loved playing with her friends London, Maddie, Hercules and Bebe. They will miss her alpha female personality and miss her bossing them around. The boys sure miss her and always remember to bless her in our prayers. They usually say something like "bless that Tatelee is having fun in doggy heaven and bless that she knows we miss and love her". Our lives were touched by you Tatelee. WE WILL MISS YOU!!!!!!

We stayed at the New York, New York. It was so much fun! The boys had a blast in the arcade. The weather in Las Vegas was perfect! We put in a lot of walking miles that weekend.

We had so much fun swimming at the pool. The roller coaster goes right over the pool so we were able to watch it all day. The boys were pretty sad when they found out that they were'nt tall enough to ride it.

Braxton and Brody broke their arms for April fools day. They wore casts to school and everyone believed their stories. We took the casts off that night. Casts are itchy!!!!!

Emily and Max visited us in March. We celebrated Emily's birthday at Jump on it with all of the cousins. Grandma Roz made her a beautiful cake which was so yummy. She also mad the kids cupcakes too.
Also during their stay, we were able to go to the gym everyday and play raquetball, basketball and lift weights.
We also visited the Quarry and did some rock climbing. All the kids got to the top of one of the ropes. They had lots of fun learning how to climb the rocks and we noticed improvement with all of them since the last time we went rock climbing.
We were really glad they got to spend a few days with us again.

Braxton and Brody were in a school program in February. The theme was based on believing in yourself and achieving your dreams. They had a good time and were very entertaining.

CANCUN, MEXICO FEB 7-10 2008

Carey and Kim were able to go to Cancun during the cold season in Utah. Kim had a Spine conference she attended while visiting paradise. We stayed in the Ritz Carlton which was just amazing. The beach was connected to the pool so inbetween walking on the beach, reading and laying out at the pool we enjoyed lots of other fun activites.

On one of the days we rented sea doos and took on the waves of Mexico. No sharks or barracudas were spotted. It was a blast! We also went parasailing that day too. The view was amazing and totally surreal.

We had so much fun laying out at the pool. Our friend Eddy the pool boy took really good care of us. We had the best chicken nachos ever! We were really livin the life that weekend.

Carey found a statue and fell in love with it immediately. He wants to get a statue just like this Latin mermaid for our front porch :)
The weather was perfect and we had such a good time. It was really the break we needed. Getting away from the cold was perfect therapy until Spring.

Brody's surgery

Monday January 21st at the clinic. Brody had xrays and we found out he had shattered his thumb. He was so brave in the office!

Surgery:Brody and Nurse Deb Tuesday the 22nd.
Brody didn't like waking up from anesthesia. He was a WILD man!!!!!
Tatelee and Brody. Tatelee likes to snuggle with Brody while he's hurt. She doesn't like to leave his side.

On sat January 20th we went bowling with Michael, Shaunie and family. During the eigth frame Brody started to bowl but the game came to a very quick halt as he crushed his thumb between the bumper, the ball and his own weight. Brody was taken to his mom's office where Dr. Johnson, hand surgeon, met us there and stablized his thumb. On Monday the 21st we had a follow up at the clinic. After xrays were taken, we found out that Brody had crushed his thumb and had a pretty bad fracture. So on Tuesday, Brody had extensive surgery at the Central Utah Surgical Center. Brody now has 3 pins holding his thumb together and also had reconstrction done to his thumb. He will keep the pins in for 3-4 weeks. Here are some of the photos from Brody's newest adventure...

So swollen lips, an abrasion on the chin and bloody gums are todays site. It doesn't seem to bother him though. He just looks tougher :)

Jan 14 2008: 1700 Braxton and Brody were playing at their dads and Brody fell into the marble coffee table. He knocked one tooth completely out and had to go to the dentist and have the other two pulled. Brody has two very fat lips and an abrasion on his chin too.
He was so brave. The top three teeth are now gone. Dr Crawford was nice enough to stay afterhours and take care of us.

Angela Williams and I visited Brandt and Gina (Landon) Madsen this January for a short weekend trip. Angela and Gina are two of Kim's great friend who helped her survive getting her Master's degree at BYU. Gina's husband is at law school and they recently added Landon to the clan. He is 5 mos old and so adorable. They visited Boston while they were there. (Kim is still a Yankees fan!) I had my first bowl of real Boston clam chowder,

We had lots of fun this summer when Emily, Max and Grace visited us. We spent time in Park City, Seven Peaks and went to the Freedom Festival.

We were able to go to Grace's baptism this fall in Gilbert Arizona. We are so proud of her! We were also lucky enough to see Max play flag football. He's da bomb!
